Following David Hocking’s talk “History of life told through Tasmanian Fossils”, we will be walking up through the Knocklofty Reserve to look at ‘cool Triassic rocks!’

2.00 pm meeting at the Carpark at the top of Forest Road, we will make our way past the picnic tables at the Lookout, onto the Mt Stuart Track over towards the path leading along the edge of the quarry (which itself is unaccessible). From there walk uphill taking in the changing geology. The terrain will include well-formed paths, others rocky and some steep sections. Plenty of options for people to choose easier paths. We may return by the summit circuit loop or back the same way, decide on the day.

Do note the warning signs at the carpark, making sure you lock up and take valuables with you. I assume there are thieves about!

There are no loos in the reserve, be prepared! Bring water. Plan for 2-3 hours, or longer if you want to linger!
