Sunday 9th June

Mount Misery – Huon Valley

Join us for a day at Mount Misery in the Huon Valley. There are numerous walks in the area which suit all levels of fitness and abilities (https://www.huonbushretreats.com/activities/bushwalk-onsite/)

We will meet at 10 am at the Summer Kitchen Bakery to go through a quick TFNC walk induction and then we will head up to Huon Bush Retreats where the tracks begin.

Car pooling is encouraged as parking may be limited on site. We can organise some car pooling at the Summer Kitchen Bakery on the morning. If you require transport from the city, please come along to the talk on Thursday the 6th June and you may be able to organise something with another member there.

Mount Misery and it’s tracks are private land owned by the Huon Bush Retreats. They welcome the public to come and enjoy the area. It is asked that visitors make a donation on arrival to help with the maintenance of the tracks. We encourage everyone to remember to bring some cash to make a donation. (https://www.huonbushretreats.com/)

Non-members are welcome, please email Fiona on enquiries@tasfieldnats.org.au if you wish to attend. If you think that the club is a good fit for you and you would like to regularly attend events then we ask you sign up as a member (https://tasfieldnats.org.au/members/). Annual fees are between $30 – $40. As we like to say ‘It’s cheaper than Netflix!’

Please remember to have a read of the Excursion Guidelines before the day.

iNaturalist

Since June 2021, observations from TFNC excursions have been recorded as projects on iNaturalist.

More observations made on excursions can be added at any time, so it is never too late. If you are familiar with any of the species observed, we would appreciate if you could either agree with the species ID or suggest the possible ID so the observation can become “research quality” and available to other users.

You may also become a member of the TFNC umbrella project to receive notifications from iNaturalist when excursions are updated.
