About
Curiosity about a shrub in his garden led Stewart, a botanically naïve zoologist, to investigate the pollination of Richea dracophylla, a Tasmanian endemic restricted to the south-east of the state. In this talk he will discuss the pollinators, including the discovery of the first recorded instance of pollination by a nocturnal cryophilic ant, and the role of birds. He will also talk about the long and possibly changing flowering period of Richea dracophylla and about other aspects of the biology of the genus Richea.
