UTAS Sandy Bay Campus in the Law Building Seminar Room (Room 132)

Emeritus Professor Sue Jones Biological Sciences, will talk on Cuckoos of Tasmania (and elsewhere)

Each spring, Tasmania welcomes four species of cuckoo that migrate to our island for breeding after spending the cooler months at higher latitudes. All four species – Pallid Cuckoo, Australian Fan-tailed Cuckoo, Shining Bronze-Cuckoo and Horsfield’s Bronze-Cuckoo – are ‘brood parasites’.

In this talk, we will find out how to identify these cuckoos, learn about their general ecology and, finally, unpack what it means to be a brood parasite.

Non-members are welcome, and registration is optional. You may email Fiona on enquiries@tasfieldnats.org.au if you wish to attend or click on the Register button to the right.
